Cross country takes 2nd, 3rd in league meet

In their second league meet and second to last competition of the regular season, the girls’ varsity cross country team took second place out of six while the boys’ team took third out of seven at Balboa Park on Thursday.

Lizzy Thomas ’14, who finished first in her race at the first league meet on Sept. 6, took second individually for the girls’ squad. Trishta Dordi ’15 and Audrey Wilson ’15 followed, finishing fourth and sixth respectively.

Ben Weissenbach ’15, who also placed first in his race at the first league meet, crossed the finish line for the boys second individually as well, while boys’ co-captain David Manahan ’14 finished ninth.

The cross country teams will run in their last competition before League Finals at the annual Mt. San Antonio College Invitational on Friday, Oct. 19. On Wednesday, Oct. 31, the teams will return to Balboa Park for League Finals, where the girls’ team will look to defend their Mission League title. If they qualify, runners will then head back to Mt. SAC for CIF competition on Nov. 10 and Nov. 17. If they advance from CIF, they will travel to Woodward Park in Fresno for State Finals on Nov. 24.
