In the final game of the 2021 football season, the Wolverines defeated Mary Star of the Sea High School 35-7 on Friday, finishing the season with an undefeated record of 6-0, while also going 3-0 in league games.

Coming off a high-scoring league championship game against La Salle High School at the Rose Bowl stadium, the football team continued its season-long dominance. Unlike the previous game where the Wolverines’ defense gave up 40 points, the team was able to hold the Stars scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Defensive linemen Edward Kim ‘23 said since this is the last game he will ever play with the seniors, he is bittersweet about the win and will miss the energy the seniors brought to practices and games. Although Kim had no previous experience with the sport, he said he felt that the seniors embraced him and made him feel part of the team.

“We experienced so much adversity this season with COVID-19, I think it’s great that we were able to put a season together to give the seniors one last time to play and represent the school,” Kim said. “I am extremely happy that we were able to end on a high note as Del Rey League Champions and send the seniors off knowing that the team was able to achieve perfection by being undefeated.”
