The boys basketball team beat Crespi Carmelite High School 54-47 on Friday, adding another victory to its five-game win streak. The team now has an 8-2 record for the season, with nine games left to play in the season.

The game was close throughout the first half, with the Wolverines leading by one point at the end of the first quarter and trailing by one point by halftime. The squad built up their momentum in the second half and started the final quarter with a seven-point lead. They maintained their lead in the final quarter, in which both teams scored 15 points.

The team’s next match was a 92-84 win against Chaminade College Preparatory High School on April 17. The Eagles struggled to match the Wolverines’ offense at the beginning of the game and trailed by 20 points at the end of the first half. The trend continued in the third quarter when the Wolverines built up a 29-point lead. Chaminade gained momentum in the final quarter and scored 39 points, more than doubling the Wolverines’ 18 points. However, this rally came too late in the game for the Eagles to overcome the Wolverines’ aggressive and consistent offense.

In their two most recent games, the squad was able to build on their successful offense throughout their five-game streak. In their games against Alemany, Loyola and Notre Dame earlier this month, they won by at least an 18-point margin.

The team will get the chance to add to their streak in their next contest at St. Francis High School on April 28.
