Boys volleyball suffers defeat to Alemany High School

The boys volleyball team moves to 3-6 overall in the season after a 3-1 loss to Alemany High School on Friday at home.

The team started off strong winning its first set 25-19; however, the team struggled in its second set losing 20-25, and then in the decider, lost a close set 22-25.

Although the team suffered a 1-3 loss, outside hitter Ben Volokh ’22 said that he felt the team did some techniques well.

“Our team played very well and with a lot of heart,” Volokh said. “We blocked very well and were very aggressive at the net which put a ton of pressure on their good hitters.” Our serving, which has been our worst skill this year, was also very consistent, which was good.

For the future, Volokh said the team needs to respond better to adversity.

“In the future, we need to work on serve receive, and getting out of jams quickly,” Volokh said. “We would score a ton of points, but then shank five serves in a row, which dug us into a hole. We have to learn how to get out of that hole sooner.”

The team looks to bounce out of its losing streak in its next game against St. Francis on May 11.
