Boys’ basketball defeats Alemany after consecutive losses

Following consecutive double-digit losses to Serra and Chaminade, the boys’ varsity basketball team bounced back with an 80-74 victory over Alemany on Wednesday.

Guard Alex Copeland ’15 led the team in scoring with 23 points followed by Clinton Hooks ’13 with 15.

Derick Newton ’14, who leads the team in points per game, looks to make his way back into the rotation as he returns from a shoulder injury suffered on Jan. 9.

The Wolverines, now 15-8 on the season and 6-4 in league competition, stand third in the Mission League behind Crespi and Loyola, who are in first and second respectively. Two games remain in the regular season for the Wolverines, as they will face St. Francis at home on Feb. 1 and finish the regular season against arch-rival Loyola at Occidental College on Feb. 4.
