Pole vaulter, jumper set meet records in Russell Cup

Pole vaulter Ben Gaylord ’13 and jumper/sprinter Courtney Corrin set Russell Cup meet records in three of the varsity track and field teams’ four competition wins on Saturday, April 13 at Carpinteria High School.

Gaylord cleared a height of fifteen-feet, six-inches to claim the meet record and win the pole vaulting competition. Gaylord’s victory was the only win for the boys’ team Saturday.

On the girls’ end, Courtney Corrin ’16 won in both long jump and triple jump, Alex Florent ’15 won in the high jump competition, and Florent, Corrin, Shea Copeland ’15, and Imani Cook-Gist ’15 captured the victory in the girls’ 4×100 meter relay. Corrin set meet records in all three of her victories.

Both teams will next begin to transition into the postseason. The Wolverines will host Chaminade on April 17 before competing in the annual Mount San Antonio College Invitational on April 19 and April 20.
