Boys volleyball rebounds with win over Alemany

After a five set loss to Chaminade earlier this week, the boys’ volleyball team got back to its winning ways with a three set victory at Alemany today. The Wolverines improved to 7-3 in league play as well as 13-6-1 overall.

With two games remaining on the team’s league schedule, the team can still qualify for the second place spot in league standings. Loyola, undefeated in league this season, will claim the first spot, while the battle for runner-up is still up for grabs. The Wolverines went into Spring Break 5-1 in league, only losing to Loyola, but dropped a match against Notre Dame before falling again to Chaminade.

“When we returned to practice after Spring Break, it was obvious that we as a team were not performing to our potential,” Hudson Ling ’15 said. “It took a tough loss on the road at Notre Dame to wake us up, and then a close battle against Chaminade, in which we unfortunately fell just short again.”

The Wolverines play St. Francis, a team that the Wolverines beat in five sets earlier this season, on Tuesday then Loyola, a team that the Wolverines lost to in straight sets during the first matchup, on Thursday. This weekend, the Wolverines will compete in the Santa Barbara Tournament.

“With this big win at Bishop Alemany on their Senior Night, it was clear that we are back on track. This is the energy that we will bring to the tournament at UC Santa Barbara, and for the rest of the season and playoffs,” Ling said.
