Baseball scores Senior Day win

After two days of cancelled, delayed and rescheduled games, the varsity baseball team finally played St. Francis at home Thursday in its Senior Day game, and beat the Golden Knights 6-1.

Jack Flaherty ’14 notched another complete game win as he allowed two hits and pitched 14 strikeouts, while Joe Corrigan ’13 and Andrew Wallach ’13 each contributed multiple hits.

The Wolverines will play St. Francis again Friday, in a game originally set for Wednesday at St. Francis that was moved because of rain. Another win will secure a tie for the team’s third straight Mission League title.

The possibility of a Mission League three peat was not the only good news for the Wolverine baseball program this week, however: it was announced that head coach Matt LaCour will once again serve as pitching coach for 15U USA national team this summer, in the COPABE “AA”/15U Pan American Baseball Championships in Barranquilla, Colombia.
