Alumna’s national running record broken

Nearly two years to the day she set the national record, Amy Weissenbach ’12 saw an end to her reign as the country’s fastest ever female 800 meter high school runner on Saturday, at the hands of New York’s Mary Cain.

Cain, who attends Bronxville High School in Bronxville, NY, ran an 800 meter time of 1:59.51 at the Oregon Prefontaine Classic, eclipsing Weissenbach’s national girls’ high school record of 2:02.04. The former Wolverine runner set the previous record on June 4. 2011, at California track and field State Finals in her junior year.
