Baseball players to take part in CIF All-Star Game

Representing the CIF Champion Wolverine baseball team, graduated first baseman Joe Corrigan ’13 and graduated second baseman Alex Horowitz ’13 played for the Southern Section in the City vs. Southern Section All-Star Game on June 1 at Birmingham High School.

Both players finished the season with batting averages over .300, and while Horowitz’s season at the plate was highlighted by his 3 homeruns, the USC-bound Corrigan hit 8 doubles and a triple before the season wrapped up at Dodger Stadium on May 31, according to Maxpreps.com. Horowitz, who will play for Butler University next year, made the final out in the championship game against Marina to clinch the title for the Wolverines.

The 2013 game marked the seventh annual meeting between the CIF Southern and City Section teams. Corrigan and Horowitz hoped to help the Southern Section win its third straight All-Star game over the City.
