Girls’ volleyball exits in quarterfinals of RUHS Tournament

With just one game remaining on their Mission League schedule, the girls’ varsity volleyball team took a break from league action to participate in the Redondo Union High School volleyball tournament this weekend.

The squad was able to sweep Ventura, Rio Mesa, Palos Verdes, and the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. The first set against the Jackrabbits ended in a 26-24 victory for the Wolverines, following a decisive 25-14 win in the second set to close out the match.

The Wolverines fell to Scripps Ranch, the 19th ranked team in Calif., in the quarterfinals match of the tournament, but starting setter Nicole Elattrache ’14 was named to the All- Tournament team despite the teams exit.

The team currently sits atop the Mission League with an 8-1 record, and will match-up against Alemany High School this Tuesday to end their season and begin CIF playoffs. The Wolverines have beaten the Warriors already this year 3-1 in their first match of the season.
