Cross country qualifies for State at CIF Finals

Both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will be heading to Woodward Park in Fresno Nov. 30 for State Championships after finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively in CIF Finals today. Both teams’ final sports qualified them for the state competition.

Leading the girls’ effort, Lizzy Thomas ’14 was the highest-placing Wolverine in the Finals at Mount San Antonio College, taking eighth place in the girls’ race. Thomas has been a key component of the Wolverines’ finishes throughout 2013, winning multiple races during the regular season.

The cross country teams’ results this morning started “Super Saturday” off on a high note for Wolverine teams. The boys’ water polo team followed cross country with a 9-6 CIF Finals win over longtim rival Notre Dame.

Girls’ volleyball is the fourth Wolverine team competing in CIF Finals today. The team is currently playing  La Salle at 5 p.m. at Santiago Canyon College in Orange County.
