    David Hoffman: Jordan/Israel

David Hoffman ’13 traveled to Jordan and Israel as part of his Junior Fellowship this summer. In Jordan, Hoffman took classes at the University of Jordan.

The primary goal of his trip was to interview students on their opinions of the monarchical government ruling Jordan.

Hoffman got a chance to hear the opinions of Jordanian students and found that they were generally fond of the current monarchy. The students felt the monarchy provided safety and stability for not only Jordanian residents, but also Egyptian refugees and Syrian civilians.

“There actually wasn’t one person who criticized the king,” Hoffman said. “It’s actually illegal to  there because it’s a monarchy. But I don’t know if that is something you don’t admit to others or admit to a foreigner. It was definitely interesting to see that.”
