Hamburger Hamlet to host event benefitting endowed funds

A fundraising event hosted by the restaurant Hamburger Hamlet Feb. 23 will benefit the Michael Segal ’75 Family and John Amato Family Scholar Endowed Funds. Twenty percent of proceeds from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 23 will be donated to the endowed funds, which support financial aid.

Brett Doherty, husband of former Harvard-Westlake Alumni Association president Lisa Handler Doherty ’87, recently acquired the restaurant with business partner Kevin Michaels. The fundraiser is part of the restaurant’s community support program, Hamburger Hamlet Helps.

“Lisa is a very loyal alumna with strong ties to the school,” Head of External Relations Ed Hu said. “She wanted to do something to benefit the school and support one of the school’s highest priorities, financial aid. This is a great event to help build community, support a priority of the school, and support a gastronomic institution in the neighborhood.”
