School names new girls’ tennis coach

Harvard-Westlake has announced Kristie Reynolds-Gipe as the new head of the girls’ tennis program. Reynolds-Gipe will replace Chris Simpson, who has been the head of both the boys’ and girls’ tennis programs since 2001. However, Simpson will remain as the boys’ tennis coach.

In the past 14 years, Simpson has led the girls’ squad to an 134-4 Mission League Record as well as 13 league championships, including seven in the last seven years.

Reynolds-Gipe has coached tennis on a variety of levels. She has experience at the high school level and has also been a pro with various country clubs and tennis centers in the Los Angeles area. Previously, she has coached at both Notre Dame Academy and Crespi, Mission League rival to the Wolverines. She also coached and played at Biola University.

“Kristie Reynolds-Gipe is an excellent tennis coach with over 30 years of experience at the high school, college and professional levels,” Head of Athletics Terry Barnum said. “She is the best person to lead our program, and we are optimistic about the future of girls’ tennis at Harvard-Westlake.”
