After losing their first game in the Ocean View Tournament to Compton High School, the Wolverines rebounded to beat Fresno Clovis West 81-69 yesterday. They play Villa Park tonight.
Before the Ocean View Tournament, the team opened up their season by winning the Moorpark Comissionerâs Invitional on Dec. 9. Renaldo Woolridge â08, who was named a top performoer after the Clovis game by the Los Angeles Times, recieved the tournamentâs MVP Award.
With a young team and a shortage of senior leaders, underclassmen âwill need to step up.â
âBeing young has its advantages,â Jabari Trotter â07 said. âThe way we play works well with younger players.â
Head Coach Greg Hilliard believes that this year’s team is one of his most athletic and naturally talented, but that their relative inexperience could cause some inconsistency during the regular season.
