Wider barcodes in new IDs facilitate cafeteria swiping

The cafeteria requested that students buy new identification cards at the start of second semester because of problems reading the barcode. The new cards are outfitted with wider barcodes that are more easily read by the payment machines. Old cards will still work if they are swiped more slowly. Some students exchanged their first semester IDs for new cards at the bookstore at no cost. However, students who did not have their old IDs had to pay for the new ones.
