Three man team Eli Cole ’08, Glen Scher ’09 and Bobby Lange ’09 came in first out of 44 teams at the Oak Park Invitational at North Ranch Country Club Monday.

Cole shot a 74 while Scher and Lange both shot 77 to total a collective score of 228 in their first tournament of the year. Cole came in second place overall for individual score while Scher and Lange tied for 10th.

“I’m proud and happy for them,” Head Coach Scott Wood said. “These guys got a lot of experience in the offseason and it showed.”

The team also edged rival Brentwood by one stroke.

“Both teams were standing by the scoreboard waiting to see what the other shot, and to win by one is pretty exciting,” Wood said.

After initial success to start the season, Wood is confident in the team and is excited for the remainder of the season.

“I think we’re as strong as we’ve ever been in my five years I’ve coached here,” Wood said. “While we’re all excited we won the invitational, we’re all looking forward to the season and beyond.”
