    Baseball hopes to progress

Going into the spring season, baseball hopes to continue to progress. After finishing higher in Mission League than in the last two seasons, CIF playoffs are in sight for the team. The starting rotation is a strong point for the team, with Nik Turley ’08 and Eric Schultz ’08 heading the rotation. Combining them with the likes of Austin Wilson ’10, the team is prepared to make a run for the postseason.

“Very few teams can match up with our one and two starters. I think we have the talent to [make playoffs],” Hunter Spinks ’09 said.

Coach Matt Lacour has faith that the team will perform well.

“I expect the team to do well,” he said.

Wilson is the biggest prospect for the Wolverines. The outfielder leads the team in batting average and home runs and bats at the top of the lineup.

LaCour believes that despite Wilson’s power, he is not the only offensive catalyst. H emphasized the importance of the leadoff hitter in each inning.

“I would hope that our leadoff hitter every inning is our offensive catalyst,” LaCour said.
