Student discovers how to hack school server

A sophomore boy served an in-house suspension early last month after he posted instruction on how to crack the school’s server onto what the school called a “hacking website” over the summer, he said.

“He claims that he wanted to see if it was possible to do this so that he could inform us of our vulnerability,” Head of School Jeanne Huybrechts said.

After discovering the holes in the server, the sophomore e-mailed various members of the technology services department to alert them of the problems, he said.

While the school network has since been secured against potential threats posted by the boy, he now works for Director of Computer Services David Ruben as an intern, the sophomore said.
