7 new faculty members come to Upper School


This year, seven new faces will join the upper school faculty.

Jennifer Bladen will be a publications and yearbook teacher and will teach at both campuses.

She worked for Taylor Publishing, the company that publishes the yearbook. She has taught yearbook journalism and technology to high school students and teachers, and she is looking forward to returning to a school environment.

Taking the place of Jerry Margolis, Shawn Constantino is the new upper school jazz teacher. He has played music all of his life and was awarded merit scholarships to Interlochen Arts Camp and to the Tanglewood Institute. He completed undergraduate work at the University of Miami, where he focused on studio music and jazz.

Vic Eumont relocated to California last year when Hurricane Katrina hit his home, leaving his post as a coach at Jesuit High School. This year, he will be Football Program Head Varsity Coach. He has 30 years of coaching experience at his alma mater, Tulane.

Jill Jewell-Turner will teach both English III and IV. Previously, Turner taught British literature in the English department at The School of Foreign Studies of Anhui University in China, where she spent four years. Turner also taught American and European literature at the College of William and Mary, where she was Dean of Academics.

Malina Mamigonian taught rhetoric to college students, and she also taught honors English and creative writing to students at a charter school. In addition, Mamigonian taught English to non-English speakers. She received her master’s and PhD in American and British Literature from the University of York in England and got her bachelor’s in Literature and Government from Claremont Mckenna. Mamigonian has joined the English department to teach sophomores and juniors.

Ashley Satterthwaite-Johnson developed a love for teaching while working at a local “Learning Center” where she taught students of all ages everything from basic arithmetic to calculus. Johnson majored in math and studied psychology as well. She spent one year at Columbia completing a master’s program in math education. Johnson will be teaching math classes.

Matt LeCour has spent the last five years coaching City Section power El Camino Real to a 127-32 baseball record that included a 2005 section championship where the team was named the California State team of the year by Cal-Hi Sports. No picture for LeCour was available.
