Choirs receive awards at Heritage Festival

By Shayna Freisleben

Bel Canto and the Wolverine Chorus received three awards each at the Heritage Festival in Fullerton on May 23. Both groups received the adjudicators’ award and gold ratings. A gold rating indicates that the average score of all three adjudicators exceeded 90/100.

Both choral ensembles were also invited to the Heritage Gold Festival, a competition for select choirs which received gold ratings. The festival was the first competition ever for the Wolverine Chorus, which was also joined by some male members of Chamber Singers. There were approximately 25 choirs competing in the two-day long festival. The festival culminated with an award ceremony and fireworks display at Disneyland theme park.
