“Slow Down for Julia” initiative announced this morning

By Jordan Freisleben

The “Slow Down for Julia” initiative to call attention to unsafe driving was announced this morning at a press conference at the corner of Cliffwood and Sunset in West Los Angeles, where Julia Siegler ’14 was struck and killed by two vehicles last February. “Slow Down for Julia” was created by Siegler’s mother, Jody Cukier Siegler, along with Councilman Bill Rosendahl.

Cukier Siegler and Rosendahl, along with Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Captain Nancy Lauer and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, were at the conference this morning to remind drivers of the potentially fatal consequences of unsafe driving habits. In addition, the LAPD West Traffic Division started distributing “Slow Down for Julia” flyers at 6 a.m. this morning to all drivers on Sunset Boulevard.
