Athletic Department cancels outdoor practices due to extreme heat

With temperatures recorded at well above 100 degrees, the Athletic Department cancelled all outdoor athletic activity Monday, Sept. 27, except for water sports.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the temperature in downtown Los Angeles hit 113 degrees shortly after noon, making it the highest temperature on record there. Record-keeping for temperature in downtown Los Angeles began in 1877.

Outside athletic activities resumed on Sept. 28.
