Boys’ basketball holds off Chaminade, prepares for Loyola showdown

By Judd Liebman

Leading scorer Josh Hearlihy ’12 kept the boys’ basketball team alive against the Chaminade Eagles on Wednesday. Hearlihy’s 21 points led Harvard-Westlake to a 64-57 home win.

With this win, the Wolverines improve their win streak to 12 games and move to 4-0 in the Mission League.

Chaminade kept it close, as the Wolverines’ sloppy defense failed to shut down the Eagles’ shooting guards.

“We lacked in defense tonight; we gave up too many shots,” guard Noor Fateh ’11 said. ”We finally picked up our defense at the end and got the win.”

On Friday, the Wolverines will face arch-rival Loyola, whom they swept last year in the two-game series.

“The momentum gives us a lot of the confidence that we need to get the win,” Fateh said. “We are ready to play. We just need to utilize our bigs, and we’ll get the win.”
