Lacrosse defeats rival Loyola at home

    By David Kolin

Winning 17-4 against Loyola last night, the lacrosse team currently holds a 5-0 undefeated overall record under their new head coach, Matt Lewis. Will Oliver ’11 was the leading scorer with a school-record nine goals.

At the half of yesterday’s game, the Wolverines were up 12-2. The Cubs attempted to rally back to victory by scoring two goals, but their momentum was squelched and was quickly returned to the Wolverines.

Matt Lewis, previously the head coach at Loyola, has been focused on beating his former team since the beginning of the season.

“We had what it takes to beat them,” Oliver said. “We knew we were going to work hard and were a more skilled team than they were. We just put our nose to the grind during practice and were ready to get back at them for last year.”

The team’s next league game will be against Brentwood this Tuesday.
