Boys’ basketball drops 2nd straight

By Robbie Loeb

After losing in its season opener to Santa Monica Tuesday, the boys’ basketball team dropped its second straight game against Pacific Hills, 56-54 Wednesday in the Pacific Shores Tournament.

“It was close all the way,” guard Francis Hyde ’13 said. “We need to get better as a whole. Hopefully as the season progresses, we can get the chemistry we need.”

The Wolverines had a chance to win the game, but missed a three-pointer at the buzzer. In Tuesday’s game, small forward Josh Hearlihy ’12 missed three free throws with four seconds left in the 60-57 game to send it into overtime.

The tournament consists of six rounds and 16 teams, and is held all this week at Redondo Union, from Monday through Saturday. The Wolverines’ next matchup in the tournament will be against Hawthorne Thursday afternoon.
