Track and field teams win 4 CIF Championships

Five track and field athletes came away from the CIF Finals meet yesterday at Mt. San Antonio College as Div. III CIF Champions. 

Amy Weissenbach ’12 defended her title in the 800-meter for the third straight year yesterday at the CIF Finals meet. Her time of 2:07.38 set the Div. III CIF Finals meet record. 
Cami Chapus ’12 also defended the 1600 title she won last year with a time of 4:48.77. Weissenbach was runner-up in the event at 4:48.86, only nine hundredths of a second behind Chapus. 
The girls’ 4×400 relay team also won a CIF Championship yesterday. Seniors Chapus and Weissenbach joined freshmen Imani Cook-Gist ’15 and Shea Copeland ’15 to win the championship with a time of 3:46.52. 

On the boys side, David Manahan ’14 won his first CIF Championship in the 800 with a time of 1:54.15. 

All five winners qualified for the CIF Masters meet next Friday, May 25. Additionally, Garrett Robinson ’15 qualified for the boys’ 400, Ben Gaylord ’13 qualified for the boys’ pole vault and Alex Florent ’15 qualified for the long jump.

The boys’ 4×400 relay team, made up of Judd Liebman ’12, Manahan, Jordan Gutierrez ’14 and Robinson did not advance to CIF Masters, but set a school record with a time of 3:21.64.
