    Bake sale aids soldiers overseas

Community Council is selling goods from Porto’s Bakery on the quad all day today to raise money to buy the supplies necessary to make care packages for soldiers overseas.

The care packages will be made during Community Service Week, which is Dec. 9-13. They will consist of toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, and other items that soldiers would not have access to otherwise, Community Council member Nicole West ’14 said.

The finished packages will be sent to the non-profit organization Operation Gratitude, which will ship them to the soldiers.

This project is one of the many that will take place during Community Service Week.

“For Community Service Week we are attempting to utilize organizations around the LA area that are both widely known and also new and growing,” West said. “With that said, we have picked a wide variety of different organizations that we will be helping throughout the week.”
