With a decisive 14-0 Friday night victory over St. Francis, the varsity baseball team secured its third straight Mission League championship.
Pitchers Conor Cuse ’13 and Hans Hansen ’13 combined for the shutout, while their teammates on the offensive end did their part in a game that included an 8-run sixth inning.
The Wolverines’ ability to defend their League title looked very much in question a few weeks ago, when they needed first place Loyola to lose for them to have any shot at the championship. Thanks to two Loyola losses and a coin toss that went the Wolverines’ way, though, the team will begin CIF play Thursday with a League championship.
