Baseball opens Notre Dame series with victory

Junior ace Jesse Bergin ’18 turned in his best outing of the year as the baseball team shut out Notre Dame on Tuesday.

Bergin blanked the Knights over six frames, striking out five in his second win of the year.  Closer Nico Manucci ’17 struck out one on route to a save.

Offensively, third baseman Loren Franck ’18 led the team with a trio of hits.  Second baseman Michael Snyder ’19 added a pair of RBI’s, bringing his total to a team-leading eight.  Utility infielder Ryan Page ’17 continued his hot streak with a pair of hits, while outfielder R.J. Schreck ’18 contributed an RBI.

The Wolverines will continue the series tomorrow at home, with right-hander Sam Hliboki ’19 in line to start.  First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
