Bryan Polan’s ’14 career-high 30 points made the difference for the boys’ varsity basketball team Monday night, as the Wolverines earned a convincing 94-64 win over Dorsey in the University High School Tournament.
The Wolverines broke away with the lead early in the second quarter, outscoring Dorsey 33-15 in the second period. Polan’s surge came at the right time as the Wolverines’ main facilitators Derick Newton ’14 and Mike Sheng ’14 left the game with injuries in the first and fourth quarters respectively and would not return.
The team’s win Monday snaps a three-game losing skid coming at the Santa Monica High School Tournament over the past week, during which it suffered losses to Santa Monica, Brentwood and West Ranch. Now 2-3 on the season, the Wolverines will continue play at University High School tomorrow against St. Bernard.
