Boys’ soccer wins second league contest against Notre Dame

By Charlton Azuoma

The varsity boys’ soccer defeated the Notre Dame Knights tonight on Ted Slavin Field by a final score of 3-1.

The Knights were the side who jumped out to the early lead, but the Wolverines responded with a goal in the 25th minute from forward Adam Wininger ’12 off of Matthew Glick’s ’15 corner kick.

Another goal 16 minutes later from midfielder Matthew Gooden ’15 had the Wolverines going into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

“We went down 1-0 but fought back and showed the determination that this team has,” goalkeeper Wade Clement ’12 said.

The Wolverines displayed their determination to end the game strongly with another goal by forward Ty Gilhuly ’13.

The Wolverines look forward to their next game against the Chaminade Eagles at home on Wednesday.

“Getting the first win at home is always good … this next week will definitely be a challenge for us, but we’re all looking forward to it,” Clement said.
