The boys’ tennis team served up a clutch victory against bitter rival Los Alamitos 10-8 on May 15 to advance to the CIF-SS DI semi-finals.

The match was close for most of the day, with the score tied 7-7 with four matches yet to play. With championship hopes and the season on the line, Stanley Morris ’18 delivered in singles and captains Jed Kronenberg ’17 and Jacob Tucker ’17 stepped up to seal the victory for the Wolverines in their doubles match.

The Wolverines got their revenge on the Griffins, who defeated them in a heartbreaking CIF finals in 2015 and eliminated them from playoff contention in the second round of the 2016 playoffs.

“Today we showed why we are a team that is meant to win,” Tucker said. “We dug deep when it mattered and delivered the win.”

The squad will take on University High School at LA Valley College 3 p.m. Wednesday.
