Boys’ tennis routs Chaminade, gears up for All-American tourney

The CIF-SS top seeded boys’ tennis team delivered a 16-2 drubbing against Chaminade to remain undefeated at 11-0.

The relatively easy match up gave the squad an opportunity for JV players to move up to varsity and showcase their skills.

Timothy Li ‘20, ranked 110th best freshman in the nation per Tennis Recruiting Network, delivered a solid performance,  sweeping his singles matches and defeating Brett Brinkmann ‘19 of Chaminade, who is ranked 80th sophomore.

The boys will be traveling to Newport Beach, CA to compete in the highly anticipated National High School Tennis All American Team Invitational tournament (NHS-TAAF). The NHS-TAAF is the premier high school tennis tournament, showcasing the best teams from all over the country.

“It’s great to be undefeated going into the all American tournament,” Pomona commit Jed Kronenberg ‘17 said. “We’ve placed 5th the past two years at the tournament and have a really good team that is capable of going all the way this year.”

With the prospect of finally being recognized as one of the best teams in the country, the advice captain Adam Sraberg ‘17 gave earlier this season- “don’t sleep on boys’ tennis”- is more resounding than ever.
