Boys’ tennis trounces powerhouse San Marino, stays undefeated

The Boys’ tennis team delivered another convincing victory, this time over powerhouse San Marino 13-5 on March 9.

Captain Adam Sraberg ‘17 said last week that this match would be a tough one, and a good indicator of where they are at as a team.

It is safe to say that the boys delivered. Missing starters Kenneth Lee ‘19 and Stanley Morris ‘18 the squad relied on their bench to perform well, and they did just that, displaying an impressive balance of skill and depth.

“San Marino has always been a tough team throughout my high school career,” Jacob Tucker ‘17 said.  “They’ve always had our number. To be able to finally beat them in my senior year is a great sign for what’s to come the rest of this season and I’m super happy with the result.”

Going into the season, San Marino was ranked number one in the CIF-SS. The squad features multiple five-star recruits, including Georgetown commit Connor Lee ‘17 who is ranked 81 in the nation per the Tennis Recruiting network and UCLA commit Bryce Pereira ‘17 who is ranked 43 in the nation.

Despite being ranked lower than than the San Marino stars, the wolverines delivered standout performances, with Sraberg, Jed Kronenberg ‘17 and David Arkow ‘17 all defeating the UCLA commit.

The squad faces Notre Dame next Tuesday.
