Boys’ tennis wins Mission League

Boys’ tennis qualified both its doubles teams at the Mission League Finals today and continues to work towards a third consecutive CIF Title.

On Tuesday at the Mission League Prelims, two singles players and two doubles teams qualified for League Finals.

Both doubles teams, Michael Thomas ’20 partnered with Pat Otero ’21 and David Arkow ’20 partnered with Samuel Landau ’22, finished first and second in the Mission League Tournament.

Arkow and Landau were named Mission League Most Valuable Players after the match.

The two singles competitors finished third and fourth because singles tend to be more competitive due to opposing teams using their best players in the singles spots, Otero said.

The squad will advance to the Ojai Tournament on April 25 & 26 and it hopes to repeat its same success at the tournament last year, Otero said.

“I plan to continue practicing with my [doubles] partner to build chemistry,” Otero said. “The tournament is a different experience because it’s not just league.  It’s more being able to play on a better and higher stage,” Otero said.
