Boys’ volleyball knocked out by top seed

Mira Costa ended the boys’ volleyball team’s season tonight in the second round of CIF playoffs. The Wolverines fell in three straight sets to the defending CIF Champions and top-seeded Mustangs, concluding a 17-10-1 campaign for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines advanced to the second round game after a three-set win over Newbury Park at home on Tuesday. However, the 16-seeded Wolverines had to visit the top seed in the Division I bracket and could not compete with Mira Costa, falling four wins shy of a CIF title.

The Wolverines will lose nine seniors from this year’s squad, including Eric Dritely ’13, Chad Kanoff ’13, Mike Hart ’13, Robbie Loeb ’13, Byron Lazaroff-Puck ’13, Chase Klein ’13, Beau McGinley ’13, Hugo de Castro-Aberger ’13 and Francis Hyde ’13.
