    Chronicle wins CNPA “better newspapers” contest

    The Chronicle won the first place “general excellence” award for high school newspapers in the California Newspaper Publishers Association’s 2012 “better newspapers” contest April 27.
    Robbie Loeb ’13 also won an individual first place award in the high school category of best sports photography. He won for his picture in the December issue of the Chronicle, which depicted two football players embracing after losing in the first round of the CIF playoffs.
    Additionally, Sarah Novicoff ’14 won second place in the high school category for best writing for her story on financial aid in the features section of the Chronicle’s November issue.
    “The CNPA Better Newspapers Contest is California’s foremost awards program for outstanding journalistic achievements,” according to the CNPA website.
    Chronicle adviser Kathleen Neumeyer and six members of the Chronicle staff attended the awards lunch at the Sheraton Universal Hotel.
