Community Council to reward students for completed service hours

Monday is the deadline to turn in community service sheets to be eligible for the ice cream snack Dippin’ Dots, which the Community Service Council will provide on Tuesday to students who have completed their community service requirements.

The sheets must be turned in to Director of Student Affairs Jordan Church’s office.

Each upper school student must complete one hands-on, half-day project with a group for four or more Harvard-Westlake community members before May 7.

Community Council postponed the event from last Friday to Tuesday, according to a school-wide email last Thursday. Community Council hopes that this will allow students more time to complete the requirement.

“We decided we wanted to reward those who have already completed their community service hours,” Community Council member and event organizer Nicole West ’14 said. “This treat, hopefully, will also encourage other members of the community to get their service hours done before the next treat comes to school.”
