The Head Fanatics organized Fanatic Fest Friday morning in Taper Gym to rally the community. A sword swallower, plumes of fire and streamers increased excitement in the lead-up to Saturday’s Homecoming festivities.

The pep rally concluded Spirit Week, during which a stilt walker visited the campus and the Kogi and Nitropod ice cream trucks served students tacos and ice cream, respectively, on the quad.

The sword swallower started his routine by swallowing a single sword and finished his performance by simultaneously swallowing three swords.

A dodgeball game between the Head Fanatics and members of Prefect Council and an online quiz testing different Harvard-Westlake sports trivia also took place.

To show school spirit, the Head Fanatics urged sophomores to wear red, juniors to wear white and seniors to wear black. Loyal Terry ’19 received the most cheers from the community and was named the most spirited in dress.

“My favorite part about the pep rally was the sword performer,” Emma Spencer ’18 said. “I also loved seeing everybody’s school spirit.”
