As sophomores begin the college process with their deans, they will have one more piece of information to aid them in their search: the results of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test, a personality test which is used to make the theory of psychological types described by C.G. Jung understandable and useful in people’s lives.

“The test was to help students understand how they view the world and know themselves, which in the end could help with the college process,” Upper School Dean Canh Oxelson said.

This year 10th grade Choices and Challenges classes did not take the test in class as they had done in previous years.

Deans attended an extensive training course to learn how to use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test effectively.

“When this test was used in Choices and Challenges classes, the teachers were not trained and only used a partial portion of the test,” said Bracken.

“The results were not as accurate or useful as when used by people who are trained.”
