Peter Erskine, drummer for Weather Report and former member of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, helped upper school jazz classes improve their rhythmic time and feel. In Jazz Band, the top big band, Erskine worked with Jazz Explorers drummer Charlie Fogarty â10 on the portion of âMax,â originally written for the Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra, that featured Erskine. Though focusing mainly on the role of drummers, Erskine also played with the schoolâs big bands to improve their time.
