English teacher undergoes emergency appendectomy

Former English teacher Dr. Alan Buster will substitute for English teacher Geraldine Harding for at least the rest of this week, while Harding recovers from an emergency appendectomy, said Head of School Harry Salamanadra. Harding was hospitalized at Cedars Sinai Medical Center late Thursday evening.

Buster retired from the school in 2005.

Last Friday, all substitutes came from within the English Department, Weber said. English teachers Dr. Heath Moon, Jeremy Michaelson, Lisa Rado and Laurence Weber each took on some of Harding’s classes before they could find a substitute.Head of English Department Laurence Weber is currently in the process of interviewing other candidates to substitute for Harding after this week, he said.

Salamandra is uncertain about how long Harding will be away from work.

“We think it maybe anywhere from two to six weeks, but beyond that we’re really not sure,” said Salamandra.
