Football improves to 2-1 with shutout

By Luke Holthouse

The varsity football team’s defense outscored its opponent for the second consecutive game with a 49-0 victory over Leuzinger tonight. The Wolverines defense shut out the Leuzinger Olympians and recorded two points off of a safety. Last week, the defense surrendered two touchdowns to Fairfax but recorded two touchdowns and a safety.

“I thought we had a good week of practice, a really physical week of practice,” defensive coordinator Branden Jones said. “Our kids knew their assignments and they came out 100 percent.”

Quarterback and punter Chad Kanoff ’13 threw five touchdown passes on the night, connecting with Clinton Hooks ’13 twice, Jamias Jones ’12, Correy King ’13 and Julian Shabahang ’14.  Alex Cadiff ’13 and Jones also added rushing touchdowns.

The Wolverines improved to 2-1 and will take on Sylmar next week.

“We really came out to win tonight,” Wade Clement ’12 said. “This is definitely good momentum for us so hopefully we can keep it up the next few weeks.”
