Former baseball player drafted by Seattle Mariners

Former baseball outfielder Austin Wilson ’10 was taken 49th overall in Thursday’s Major League Baseball Draft by the Seattle Mariners, joining five other former Wolverines in the MLB.

Wilson, who elected to attend Stanford University first rather than entering the draft immediately out of high school, becomes the sixth former Harvard-Westlake player currently a part of a Major League Franchise, along with Josh Satin ’03 (New York Mets), Brennan Boesch ’03 (New York Yankees), Nik Turley ’08 (New York Yankees), Lucas Giolito ’12 (Washington Nationals) and Max Fried ’12 (San Diego Padres) in the professional baseball league.

Wilson ended his three year college career at Stanford with a total .295 batting average, 20 home runs, and 110 RBIs.
