Former setter, middle hitter named captains of Boston College girls’ volleyball team

Both captains of next years Boston College girls’ volleyball team will be Harvard-Westlake alums.  Eagles Head Coach Chris Campbell announced Monday that former Wolverine setter Kellie Barnum ’11 and middle hitter Krystle Higgins ’09 will lead his team next year. 

Barnum becomes the sixth sophomore in program history to be named a captain while Higgins becomes the seventh Eagle to serve as a captain for multiple years. 

Barnum averaged 7.86 assists per set, had 30 or more assists in 11 matches and recorded 684 assists on the season. Her total assists this year is the third most a freshman ever recorded at Boston College.

Higgins led the Eagles with a .255 attacking percentage and .89 blocks per set. She ranks sixth on the all-time blocks list at Boston College with 252 and had seven matches this year with five or more blocks. 

Higgins was a part of the 2007 State Championship winning team while Barnum won two Mission League Championship with the Wolverines in 2009 and 2010.
