Michael Kim â08, Justin Kuritzkes â08, Kevin Long â08 and Monica Villar â08 participated in the Southern California Honor Choir concert in Sacramento during the California Music Educatorsâ Association State Convention.Â
Choral teacher Roger Guererro said that the four singers were judged in a highly selective audition process for the regional choirs, which was held on Nov. 16 and 17. The process included: performing a classical aria in Italian, performing a music theory quiz, and singing sight-reading and tonal memory examples. The scores were then sent to State All-State Choir Representative who used the scores to select the two choirs, the Mixed Honor Choir and the Womenâs Honor Choir. Those chosen represent the top 10 percent of high school singers in the state.
The California Honor Choir is co-sponsored by the American Choral Directors Association and the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA). The choir consists of about 300 high school students from various areas of
