Furious comeback sets up chance for series sweep

Stymied for most of the night, the baseball team defeated Chaminade for the second day in a row after JP Corrigan ’20’s walk-off reach on error capped a three-fun final frame.

The Wolverines did not record a hit over the first six innings, though they were able to advance runners through walks, hit batsmen, and Chaminade errors.  Second baseman Michael Snyder ’19 walked to lead off the seventh inning, scoring on a single by third baseman Loren Franck ’18.  In between, utility infielder Ryan Page ’17 connected on the Wolverines’ first hit of the day, his second double in as many games.

Starting pitcher Sam Hliboki ’19 (1-0) limited Chaminade’s offense, allowing two runs over 5.1 innings.  He struck out eight on route to a no-decision.  Nick Locke-Henderson ’18 earned the win in relief, striking out one over 1.1 scoreless innings.

The win moves the Wolverines’ league record to 4-1 (9-1 overall) heading into Friday’s series finale at Chaminade.
