Girls’ basketball advances to the Div. IV State Finals

    By Alex Edel

The girls’ basketball team is now one game away from winning the CIF Div. IV state title after beating Bishop Montgomery, 57-44, in the Southern California Div. IV Regional Final.

The team pulled ahead of Bishop Montgomery in the first quarter by 7 points, and by the half were up 29-18. The Knights were never able to close the gap and were down by 10 at the end of the third quarter.

Nicole Hung ’10 had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and fellow starter Sydney Haydel ’10 had 15 points.

The Wolverines have not been to the state finals since 1999, when they lost. On Friday, the team will compete against Albany St. Mary’s, at 3:30 p.m., in the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, to win the girls’ Div. IV state basketball championship.
